From Pika to Scribbles

Hello! I have officially moved this blog from https://pika.page to https://scribbles.page. Why? Well, there are a couple of reasons.

I had been enjoying the fun features and tools over at https://omg.lol. I thought about hosting my blog there, but I didn't want a completely markdown blog. However, I was hoping to find a blog host that could integrate with some of their tools. Pika doesn't do that, Scribbles does. They recently added the ability to embed your omg.lol statuslog into your Scribbles blog. This allows me to go to status.omg.lol, update my statuslog, and have it pushed to Mastodon and Scribbles. The statuslog updates even have a "Repond" link that takes folks to the post on Mastodon so they can reply if they want.

Another reason I moved was for the analytics. The Scribbles dev also runs https://tinylytics.app. This is something Pika didn't do. Not that I'm trying to do big numbers with this blog, it's just reassuring to know that people are looking at it even if they're not engaging via Mastodon comments or email.

A couple more things I like about Scribbles:

• the blog directory and discoverability
• Shoutouts in the footer
• Customizability in the "Nitpick Settings"
• REL=me link verification
• Kudos

I'm looking forward to more theme customization and personalization, but other than that, I'm very happy with Scribbles for my personal blog.
