On Amazon layoffs and AI
I don't think the Amazon layoffs are actually due to AI. I think that's a scapegoat. AI actually isn't doing that well. Definitely not well enough to replace thousands of people.
AWS is not doing well enough, and on the retail side Amazon expects a bad holiday season because so many people are struggling. The company is laying off people to stay profitable. It's just easier to blame AI.
Don't believe the hype about AI replacing people in large numbers. It's not happening. Any company that has tried it has likely walked it back.
