On Walmart and SNAP

Companies like Walmart receive a tax credit if they hire someone receiving assistance from certain government assistance programs, like SNAP. It's called the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). However, Walmart is not required to pay the person a wage that is above the income threshold required for the employee to no longer receive government assistance.

Walmart gets tax credits to hire poor people, but they are barely paying the employees, which requires them to continue to receive benefits. Walmart profits across the board.

Reminder: people on food stamps aren't moochers or freeloaders. You have to work to get food stamps.
